How to Install Your Folding Wall Shelf
Follow this simple step-by-step guide to securely install your MKGT solid wood folding wall shelf with heavy-duty steel brackets.
What You'll Need
- Drill
- Screwdriver or impact driver
- Spirit level
- Pencil
- Tape measure
- Suitable wall fixings
Step-by-Step Installation
1 Choose the Position
Decide where you would like the folding shelf to be installed. Mark the required height and make sure there is enough space below the shelf for it to fold down safely.
2 Position & Mark the Brackets
Position the folding steel brackets against the wall and use a spirit level to make sure they are straight and evenly aligned. Mark the fixing holes with a pencil.
3 Drill the Fixing Holes
Drill the marked fixing points and insert suitable wall plugs or fixings for your wall type. Always ensure the brackets are being installed into a structurally sound surface.
4 Secure the Folding Brackets
Secure both brackets firmly to the wall using suitable screws and fixings. Check again with a spirit level before fully tightening all fixings.
5 Attach the Wooden Tabletop
Raise the folding brackets into their locked position. Place the solid wood tabletop onto the brackets, centre it carefully and secure it to the brackets using the supplied screws.
6 Check the Installation
Make sure the tabletop is level and that all screws and wall fixings are fully tightened. Gently apply pressure to confirm that both brackets are securely locked before use.
How to Fold the Shelf Down
Support the tabletop with one hand before releasing the folding brackets.
Activate the release mechanism on the brackets and carefully lower the tabletop towards the wall. Keep fingers clear of the folding mechanism while lowering the shelf.
How to Raise the Shelf
Lift the tabletop slowly until both folding brackets fully engage and lock into position. Always check that both brackets are securely locked before placing anything on the shelf.
Important Safety Information
Always install into a structurally sound wall using fixings suitable for your wall type. Check for hidden electrical cables and pipes before drilling. For plasterboard walls, suitable cavity fixings must be used. Maximum load depends on wall type, fixing method and correct installation. Keep fingers clear of the folding mechanism when raising or lowering the tabletop. If you are unsure about your wall construction or installation, consult a qualified installer.
